Choosing the right Patio Barbecue for your Garden
When it comes to which kind of patio barbecues you want for your garden there are two basic styles that one can choose from. You can either choose to buy one that uses gas or else you can go the more traditional route and buy one that uses charcoal. But what you will soon discover when looking at each type is that they have their own particular advantages and disadvantages and the one you choose will be because it is the one that you prefer.
Of the two kinds of barbecues that you can buy today, the ones, which use gas, are increasing in popularity over the charcoal ones. Below we will take a look now at some of the advantages along with some of the disadvantages to be had from owning either type of barbecue.
1. The gas version is becoming increasingly popular simply as they are far easier to operate and a lot less messy compared to the charcoal ones. But the coals that you need to use (lava rock or ceramic briquettes) can prove an expensive purchase initially but they do last for a considerably long time unlike charcoal.
2. A charcoal version is a lot less expensive to buy than the gas versions and other than buying charcoals and starting fluid this is the only other expense you will have with such barbecues. But with a gas one you will need to know where you can get the gas bottles from unless yours is connected to your home gas supply.
3. The big disadvantage that a charcoal barbecue has over a gas one is the actual time it takes before you can actually start cooking. On a gas one once the flames have been ignited you only have to wait a matter of a couple of minutes before the coals inside are hot enough for them to be able to cook the food properly. However, with a charcoal one you need to wait quite a while after lighting the charcoals, as the flames need to die down and only then are they hot enough to be able to cook the food correctly.
4. One of the biggest advantages that the gas barbecue has over the charcoal version is that it has a lot more accessories that you can use with it. Many of the gas patio barbecues you see for sale today come with a side burner that allows you to cook side dishes or sauces whilst the main food is cooking on the barbecue. Also, you can now get for these barbecues pan roasters, rotisseries and smokers if you want.
5. Above we have shown you a number of the advantages and disadvantages to be had from owning either kind of barbecue. But there is one thing that you will not really see any difference with when you cook on either type and that is the way that the food tastes. In fact, there is very little difference that you will notice in just how great the good tastes whether being cooked using gas or charcoal.
It does not really matter which kind of patio barbecues you choose to buy, you just need to make sure that it has been made using good quality steel. Also if you can look for one that has a good warranty on it as well, ideally, one that you will expect to provide you with around 10 years of grilling.
