They tend to bloom for long periods and few plants offer as much variety and showy flowers as the Dahlia. They do best in well drained, humus rich soils.

They also have a fine spicy fragrance.

The white flowers bloom from July to August, however, Hosta's are not known only for their flowers. Hosta 'Francis Williams' needs to be planted in a full shade area in any moist, well-drained area. Hosta 'Frances Williams' is perhaps the most widely grown of the big Hostas. This low care perennial is ideal for shady positions, tubs and patio pots, and one of the most popular for landscape uses. A great choice for any beginner gardener.
